Historical clarinet specialist, Marie Ross, will perform a programme of unaccompanied music from the Baroque period through contemporary on various historical clarinets from each period. Hear the unique sound worlds of 12 different clarinets through music written by composers including Telemann, Donizetti, Paganini, Stravinksy, and Messiaen.
Dr. Marie Ross is a specialist of historical clarinets and performance practices and currently serves as Senior Lecturer at The University of Auckland (New Zealand). She spends part of her time in Europe where she is Associate Principal Clarinet of the French orchestra, Ensemble Matheus. She has performed with orchestras such as Concerto Köln, MusicaAeterna (Teodor Currentzis), and the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin. Marie has recently released a CD of the Brahms clarinet Sonatas and Trio on original instruments for Centaur Records (CRC 3760). She can be heard chatting about historical performance, clarinets, and the arts on her podcast, “Fidelio”.
