Music at Midday:
Bill Evans Tribute
Alan Brown - Mostyn Cole - Stephen Thomas
Alan Brown leads the trio that will play a tribute to renowned jazz musician Bill Evans.
Alan Brown is a New Zealand pianist and keyboardist with a rich history in the local jazz scene. From leading the successful jazz-funk band Blue Train in the 90s (Jazz Album of the Year 1996), the organ-based Alan Brown Trio, a core member of the Grand Central Band, through to regular work with national jazz icon Nathan Haines, Alan is a major player in the industry.
Alan’s love of the genre will be highlighted by paying homage to one of his foremost influences, Bill Evans. Alan will lead his trio through a number of Evans’ originals, plus interpretations of jazz standards that were an iconic part of Evans’ legacy.
