Creative Matters brings a wonderful selection of art workshops to Pah Homestead during these school holidays. Their workshops are:

  • Perfect for children who love to create

  • Designed to encourage children to think creatively and critically

  • Limited to 12 children per workshop

  • Education based - workshops are written by Tayla - Manager of Children's Programmes - a qualified primary school teacher

  • Taught by practising artists and experienced educators/teachers

  • Fun, creative and inspiring for children

  • A calm, positive environment for your children to thrive

Tuesday 26th September
Papery Plant Pots

Make your own pretty papers in this awesome collage workshop. Discover a wide range of printmaking and mixed media techniques such as pastels, dye, acrylic paint, scratching, stamping and more! Explore plant features and funky plant pot possibilities, sketching as many cool combos as you can come up with. Bring it all together with a collaged A3 masterpiece of pretty pots and papery plants.

Wednesday 27th September
Fantastic Fishies

Discover artists Michelle Lowe and Lea Nahon in this drawing and dye workshop. Explore species of fish and practise sketching them using techniques such as hatching, cross hatching, stumbling, stippling and more. Create a sketched A3 masterpiece of fishy close ups finished off with black inky pen, then complete a bright and beautiful dyed work showcasing your favourite fish, experimenting with dye techniques as you go for extra special colour and texture application. 

Thursday 28th September
Fabulous Fairy Houses

Transform a small glass jar into a fantastical and fabulous little fairy house which you can put lights in when you get home. Explore different fairy house themes and styles and sketch a variety of designs that you might bring to life. Play with air drying clay and use it to mould a little roof and solid walls adorned with etched and cut out quaint windows, doors and other building features inspired by the beautiful things of nature. Add some magic and sparkle by pressing sequins, buttons and other cute little adornments into the clay. Complete the scene with a decorated cardboard garden for the fairy house to sit on.

Tuesday 3rd October
Coral Collections

Dive deep into the beauty of the gardens found undersea in this exciting coral themed workshop. Discover species of coral and their interesting features, then experiment with sketching plants of different shapes, textures and patterns. Bring your sketches to life in a ‘garden’ series of three small sculptures with clay and acrylic paint, developing your painting skills along the way. Create a painted A3 coral wonderland using interesting dye techniques.

Wednesday 4th October
Hickman Alphabet Posters

Get cryptic in this text art workshop inspired by the wonderful wordy works of Derrick Hickman. Discover block lettering techniques and develop your skills in mixing and using acrylic paints. Consider what hidden message you’d like to sneak into your painted A3 artwork, then bring it to life by sketching mixed up letters across the page, adding bold black ink to your words, then filling the gaps with a carefully curated colour palette of pretty paint. Do you think people looking at your art will be able to crack the code?

Thursday 5th October
Gorgeous Gingerbread Houses

Transform a small glass jar into a gingerbread house good enough to eat. Explore different gingerbread house features and sketch a variety of designs that you might bring to life. Play with air drying clay and use it to mould a little roof and solid walls adorned with etched and cut out building features inspired by delicious treats. Finish it off with acrylic paint and pressed-in adornments such as buttons. Complete the scene with a decorated cardboard base for the gingerbread house to sit on.
